This morning started off like a bang with fish after fish with double and triple hook ups with the day ending with 20 fish all caught before 11am. Then clients wanted to do some bass fishing and successfully catching a beautiful giant spotted bass out here on Whiskeytown Lake!

Kokanee Salmon Fishing

Wind arrived this morning but it didn't matter to the serious Kokanee fisherman that wanted to catch some really nice size fish. Most of are fish averaged 15 to 16 inches and fought much better than the other few days. 25 feet was the best depth and the best color blade was white with black skirts. Remember my boats all have tops for heat and cold weather, ready to tackle most conditions on Whiskeytown Lake.

Kokanee Salmon Whiskeytown Lake

Another windy day on Whiskeytown Lake, but not as bad as it was for guys fishing in the Chico and Colusa area on the Sac River. Limits again of Kokanee salmon with some much bigger fish that last month these fish seem to grow an inch or two a week. Depth was 25 feet using chrome blades and pink skirts. Spring break is here!

Kokanee Salmon Fishing

Wind is somewhat gone but the cold weather is here at Whiskeytown Lake. Temperature this morning was 30 degrees at 7am and the fish bit really good till that wind showed up again and then the bite toughened up a little. We still managed to get some really nice fish and we got off the water by noon. The Kokanee salmon we caught were at 50 feet using black and white lures.

Rain and wind on the Sacramento River didn't stop awesome fishermen like the Brown family from catching trout all morning long. Drifting egg patterns has been working the best till it warms up then the fish turn on to flies.

Kokanee Salmon Fishing

A little slower this weekend I think the water raising on Whiskeytown Lake made a little difference. The bite seemed to got more challenging but the fish also went down to 50 to 60 feet. I guess we were all pretty spoiled by how the Kokanee salmon were biting for a while.

Sacramento River Trout and Salmon Fishing

Trout fishing and the Sacramento River is really good now with big 2O inch fish being caught daily. Jeff and George had a really good couple of days with some big giants. Drifting roe clusters and F4 flatfish have been the daily ways of catching these wild rainbows.
