Kokanee and Spotted Bass

Kokanee fishing on Whiskeytown has been pretty slow so far but the pressure is very minimal. When we are scouting for Kokanee we will dip a line in for bass and find some nice fish. These fish will come alive as soon as the plankton starts coming closer from the bottom.

Trout Fishing on the Sacramento River In Redding

Friday's fishing on the Sacramento River in Redding was really good. Our guys landed over 25 fish drifting Egg patterns and Roe clusters. We fished down to Anderson and the bite was great all day. Most trout averaged 16 to 2O inches. Light line and small pieces of Roe seem to work best.

Wild Rainbow Trout on the Sacramento River

Saturday's fishing was epic! Jason and the guys had another 30 fish in the net day. We had windy conditions but it wouldn't stop these trout from biting all day. Drifting Roe and little spoons were the best things to use. The number of fishermen on the river was low and water releases are up to 8000 CFS. Fishing can't get any better fishing than this.

Giant Rainbow Trout on the Sacramento River!

This morning was another epic trout fishing day on the Sacramento River out of Redding. My clients from Reno, Nevada never caught so many giant rainbow trout in one day of fishing. Our biggest trout was 24 inches and it was hooked and landed with small Roe clusters. Some of the best fish were caught below the 44 bridge and above the Bonnyveiw bridge.

Big Rainbow Trout

Family fishing trips are the way to go! It's so fun to take young kids that have never seen awesome fishing like the fishing we have here on the Sacramento River. We landed over 30 fish today with the largest fish being 21 inches. In my 32 years of guiding, the fishing is as strong as it was when I was 24 years old. Drifting eggs and Spoons is the way to get some of these giant rainbow trout.

Big Bug Hatch

It's still going strong as we hooked fish all day fishing from Redding to Anderson River Park. The bug hatch this morning was crazy, bugs were all over the river making the bite a little tougher. When the hatch slowed down the fish went crazy eating spoons and eggs. We hooked over 35 fish today with the largest trout measuring 23 inches.

Rainbows and Kokanee Salmon

I can say that the fishing is really up and down with only a few hours of the day producing fish. It seems like the water turns warmer every day and the fish are going deeper as well. Some of the salmon we are getting are as deep as 75 feet. Trolling spoons from 2mph to 2.5 has been working well for rainbows and 1,5 for the Kokanee and kings. The fish are spread out with the best fish seems to be on the northern part of the lake. Bass fishing is still red hot with 90 percent of the fish being on the banks.

Big Giant Rainbows on the Sacramento River

Rain made the wild rainbows bit like mad dogs. The trout fishing can't get any better! We hooked over 30 to 40 fish drifting eggs and spoons. We concentrated on the Redding area with the major traffic being in the Anderson stretch. We had two boats out today and our other boat did large numbers of fish also.

Rainbows and Brown Trout

This morning we had a great day with hooking and landing over 20 fish. It's been a great Spring with fishing being excellent most days. We have been drifting eggs and small lures.

Sacramento River Wild Rainbows

It's like it won't stop, the bite just goes on every day! Our fishermen are having great fats with nonstop action and giant fish that fight like ocean going steelhead. We tried to mix it up a little with some of our rods with bait and some others with lures. It really worked well with double hookups. Redding area is my go-to area.

Rainbows on the River

The wild rainbow trout are still biting pretty well even though the wind has been really strong all week. Most days we are catching 15 to 25 fish usually around the 18 to 22 inch range. The upper section has slowed down a little recently.

Big Rainbows and Big Winds!

North winds typically don't help the trout bite, but it didn't seem to matter today! Back trolling Hot Shots and Mag Lips really lit them up. Early morning and early afternoon are the best time to fish. Today the fish averaged from 16 - 24 inches.

May 22, 2021

Big Spotted Bass

This morning we started off with 6 pound spotted bass using plastic worms fishing in the coves. We continued to catch fish all day, fishing both coves and points. This fishing should stay really good until mid June. Hopefully, the Kokanee salmon will start hitting soon as the fish that are being caught there are all small.

Big Sacramento River Rainbow Trout

This morning started off really awesome with lots of action from Redding to Anderson. We caught most of our fish around the Anderson River Park area. Drifting egg patterns and back trolling mag lips. The numbers of fish are around the 15 to 25 fish a day mark.

Wild Rainbows on the Sacramento River

Trout fishing during the full moon makes it a little more difficult but we still are catching plenty of fish. Today's trip produced some really healthy and big ‘bows. I'm starting to see a lot of king salmon entering the Sacramento River as well.

Giant Rainbow Trout

Well, Keswick is impressing our fishermen with some really big fish. From big brown trout to rainbows that hit the 25 inch range. We are catching beautiful fish every time drifting eggs and night crawlers.

Spotted Bass Fishing on Shasta Lake

The bite on Shasta Lake continues to stay strong with most days averaging 30 to 40 fish. We are catching these bass most mornings and afternoons on plastic worms and blades. The Pit Arm and Squaw Arm are my favorite places to fish. Memorial Day weekend will be busy so get an early start!

Rainbow Trout on the Bite!!

Today's trip was fantastic with wild rainbow trout being caught all day. We fished down to Anderson, catching most fish in fast water. The biggest trout today was 22 inches and was caught with crickets. We have seen the most success using Nightcrawlers and Crickets to catch most of our fish. Thankfully, the boat traffic for Memorial Day was very little.

Sacramento River Rainbows

Memorial weekend was great fishing! We landed a lot of big fish drifting eggs and egg patterns. The best fish all weekend was 24 inches with many fish in the 21 inch range. The water level is dropping daily and the water clarity is super clear. I would suggest to anyone to downsize line.

May 31, 2021

Memorial weekend Rainbow Trout

This morning we started off with trout biting within a few minutes of being out on the water. The bite continued to stay the same throughout the day even when it got super hot. I would suggest for anyone who wants to go out, start early!
