Yes, you’ll typically need a current, valid, California hunting license. You may need additional documents depending on the type of game you’re hunting (deer tags, pig tags, etc.).

If you’re unsure of what tags you’ll need, give us a call and we can help you make sure you’ve got the necessary documents for your hunt!

Most of our deer hunts are on public and private lands in the C zones of Northern California. For more details on locations and hunt availability, please reach out.

We have access to exclusive private ranches for some game and hunt on both public and private lands for others, depending on the specific hunt.

Kirk has carefully cultivated relationships with land owners in some of the most breathtaking areas of Northern California, providing unparalleled hunting opportunity for carefully managed wildlife, from deer and pigs to waterfowl and upland game.

It depends on the species. Deer and wild pig hunts often use access to private ranches in Shasta and Tehama counties, which means more controlled conditions and typically higher success rates, since these ranches are managed specifically for game. Waterfowl and turkey hunts may use a mix of public and private land depending on bird movement and availability that season. If having private land access matters to you, let us know when booking and we'll set you up accordingly.

Hunts require lots of planning, scheduling, and coordination. In most cases, there are no refunds due to the expense of setting everything up.

These types of requests are handled on a case by case basis and we know life happens, but in general we abide by an “all sales are final” policy.

Each situation is unique, but the standard practice in the industry is that a fatally wounded animal will end the hunt. Every effort will be made to track and find a wounded animal and you can rest assured that our guides will continue to look for as long as is reasonable.

Waterfowl season generally runs from fall through late winter, with late-season goose hunts near Fall River Mills in Northeastern California offering some of the best action as birds push south. We hunt mallards, pintail, wood ducks, widgeon, teal, Canadian honkers, and both speck and snow geese, adapting blind placement to bird movement and conditions on a given day. Because timing depends heavily on weather and migration patterns each year, it's worth calling ahead to talk through the best window for your trip.

Spring turkey season typically opens toward the end of March and runs into the spring months, which is also when the weather and scenery around Redding are at their best. We hunt large wild toms on both public and private lands near Redding, and spring season tends to be one of the more scenic and approachable hunts for newer hunters, since calling and decoying turkeys is a more interactive style of hunting than sitting a blind.

Dove hunting trips include access to a private ranch in Anderson, ATV transportation to get into the field, and a homemade BBQ lunch to celebrate opening day. Quail hunts run October through January and include access to private ranches with a mix of open grasslands and wooded areas, along with ATV transportation as well. Both are good options if you want a fast-paced, social hunting day rather than an early-morning sit.

Each hunt is different! The gear that’s provided and the equipment you’ll need to bring depends on which hunt you book and what type of game you’re going after. Waterfowl, pigs, upland game, and guided deer hunts all require a different set of equipment.
