Salmon Fishing
Shasta Lake offers something the Sacramento River doesn't: year-round Kokanee salmon fishing. Kokanee are a landlocked sockeye, and the key to catching them consistently is fishing the right depth for the season, since they move through the water column as temperatures shift throughout the year. We also find king salmon in the lake, and a guided trip means you're not guessing at depth or presentation on a body of water this size.
Trout and Bass Fishing
Rainbow and brown trout are both available year-round, and Shasta Lake's size and structure make it a strong option for anglers who want variety in a single trip — bass fishing one part of the day, trout or salmon the next, depending on conditions. Spotted bass run plentiful here as well, with fish up to 25 inches and 11 lbs not uncommon. Largemouth bass round out the lake's bass fishery, giving anglers another solid target throughout the season.
