Sacramento River Salmon Fishing

This weather is incredible and the fishing isn't that bad either! We saw a little more life today with some good biters first thing in the morning, and later catching a few nice chrome fish. Things might improve with low boat pressure.

Salmon on the Sacramento River

We put it together today working our tails off and managed to land 2 king salmon. There were lots of boats on the water today but it was definitely a tough biting day. Remember, the season goes till December 31st, the last day of the salmon season!

King Salmon on the Sacramento River

We are steadily catching fish around the Red Bluff area. Fish are ranging from 10 - 20 pounds and lures seem to work best. Remember, we have 27 days left in the salmon season as it closes on December 31st.

King Salmon Fishing

The fog early this morning didn't stop 7 boats from going to try their luck on the Sacramento River for these thick, bright, king salmon. Hopefully, rain is in the forecast. We have been fishing our hearts out trying to catch a few a day! The weather has been absolutely fantastic though.

Rainy Day Salmon Fishing

It was some pretty good fishing today! The rainy weather didn’t stop the fish from biting at all. We went 4 for 6 on king salmon today. The largest fish we caught today was around 18 pounds. Remember, the season stops on December 31st.

Late Fall Salmon Fishing

The cooler weather is here and so are the fish. We have seen a few chrome fish showing up the last few days. Today, we landed a 20+ pound king salmon along with a few other fish. There is rain in the forecast and even some snow this week, so we will see how this affects fishing.

Late Fall Salmon Fishing

The fish are here and are super chrome! If you want to catch Winter and late Fall salmon, you must be able to fish in the rain. Sunny and clear water doesn’t always mean the best fishing! When you fish in December you have withstand the weather. Just two weeks left get on it!

King Salmon Sacramento River

The rain pushed most of the big schools of fish up the creeks but I think we might see some better action this week! Our fingers are crossed. The season is over up here on December 31st.

King Salmon Balls Ferry

If you want to have the opportunity to catch a couple of really gorgeous fish (and enjoy some fantastic eating for about a week and a half) December 31st is just around the corner. The water is still a little dirty but by the end of the week it will clear up a little. Reaching our limits of fish is not an everyday occurrence but you might get a giant like Dereck did today with his 27 pounder!

Salmon Fishing in Freezing Cold

Wow, talk about some really cold weather! The river was so cold today that my clients wanted to throw in the towel. We managed to scrape 2 fish a 14Ib and 19lb salmon before we called it quits. I'm counting the days until we will put some good fish in the boat, hopefully this next week with some hard work!

Salmon before the Storm

We are picking up some beautiful fish! Mr. Hunce caught some really beautiful fish this morning with probably one of the best looking king salmon I've seen all year! We hope we can get some good weather to fish in before the last day. Christmas is almost here!

Giants are Here!

The last few days we have caught some really big salmon! When these fish show up in the river, it's always the big guys that show up! Mr. Huntze fished with team Black Sheep and managed to scratch a 30 pound buck this morning. The fish are there but they sure have lockjaw. We have a few days left to get your salmon fix so get on the boat and get to fishing!

Trout and Steelhead Fishing

Merry Christmas to all the fishermen out there! We fished on Christmas Eve for wild rainbows and steelhead. The fishing started out slow but got much better as the day went on. Actually, the river was really busy with many fishermen taking advantage of the blue skies. We landed most of our fish around mid-day with some 18 - 20 inch fish. Salmon fishing around Balls Ferry is currently blown out due to high water levels and mud.

Steelhead and Trout Fishing

Another great day of fishing! We hooked big fish all day long with the largest fish around 22 inches. Even though it's been cold, the fish are eating like little piranhas! Drifting egg patterns seem to work well for us. We might try the salmon out at the end of the week, we will just have to see what the water does this week as far as levels and clarity.

New Years King Salmon

Here we have it, the last King Salmon of the year! Tonya caught a 22 pound king salmon using a Flatfish plug. It was a long Salmon run with lots of fun days on the water! I will be fishing trout, steelhead, and bass for the next few months.
