Bass Fishing on Shasta Lake

We are fishing from the Sacramento River to the big pond, Shasta Lake. The river is really dirty from the large amount of rain that we got and the banks. The lake is producing some really good size bass on Crankbaits and plastic worms.

Winter Run King Salmon

It's been a while and the river is still a little dirty, but I think it will be all season! The fishing is starting to improve with a few Kings showing up in the river. Over the weekend we managed to land 3 king salmon averaging 15 pounds! Hopefully it improves this week, let's keep our fingers crossed!

King Salmon for Thanksgiving

It's still pretty up and down but when we are catching fish they are bright king salmon. Ben caught his limit with an 8 and a 22 pound king. All in all, we hooked 4 and landed 2. The north winds are making the bite really difficult, the fish seem to get lockjaw.

Sacramento River Salmon

The fish are starting to show up today! We've seen more life than any week since the end of October! Harold picked up a 25 pound female today while backtrolling Flatfish lures. The water looks perfect, now we are just waiting for them to bite!

Bass Fishing on Shasta Lake

Well, Thanksgiving is coming up this week and the bass fishing on Shasta Lake is really heating up! Beautiful fish are being landed with some 16 inchers that will make a great fish fry.

Steelhead and Rainbows

We had some great fishing today that produced some beautiful Thanksgiving treats. Jumping from salmon to trout keeps the rod bent! Hopefully, the rain will come and get these fish up the river system. Remember, these king salmon are migrating from the ocean. It takes larger schools of fish to be successful in this game we are playing.

King Salmon Tricking in the River

We are not reaching our limits of king salmon but the few salmon that we are getting are really pretty and are cutting orange. The last few days I've seen larger amounts of fish arriving in the holes. Warmer water and a few cloudy days will be all these kings need to bite. Typically, the big schools of fish will arrive around the 1st of December so let's cross our fingers and get in some great fishing!

Salmon fishing on the Sacramento River

This morning we had 3 fish in the box by 8:30 am and continued to catch fish most of the morning. All the fish were caught using Flatfish lures and the biggest fish we caught came in around 26 pounds. Fishing might improve now that the full moon is gone and the water is warming up.

Salmon Fishing on the Sacramento River

We managed to hook a couple of fish today but the bite wasn't as good as it was days before. Some days the fish bite much better than other days, but that's why they call it fishing! Our weather is perfect for fishing and we hope the fish will come up in big numbers as the week goes on.

King Salmon on the Sacramento River

We are still picking away! There is a lot of fish in the system but they just have lockjaw. We are having a hard time trying to get anything to bite, but when we do they’re beautiful and fight hard. We do need it to rain lightly to get the water a little warmer. Sunny days are great to fish but cold river temps make it super hard to get fish to bite.

King Salmon on the Sacramento River

The weather is beautiful and the fishing is great but catching salmon is a little challenging this week. We are getting a few chances a day on these fish but they are still continuing to play cat and mouse! I think some rain might help these fish bite a little better but we will see. Trout fishing has been good and we are catching a few steelhead during the day.
