Bass Fishing for Spotted Bass

This weekend was really great fishing! With the warm weather, these fish are getting close to the banks. Plastic worms are the best baits currently. The best time of the day to fish is 10 am - 2 pm. Arbuckle flats and Silverthorn Marina are hots spots right now.

Fishing on Shasta Lake for Bass

It's time for bass on Shasta Lake. We are catching limits of bass daily with the fish getting bigger, some up to 3 pounds! The fish have moved towards the bank by mid day. Today the Squaw Arm produced limits of spots all on tubes and Ned. We will start fishing trout next week concentrating on brown trout.

Big brown on Shasta lake

Dave and Lance caught this beautiful big brown trout on Shasta Lake today! This fish was 26 inches and around 6 pounds. It took a white and black cripplure with a 6 inch chrome dodger. The water is clear and low but the fish haven't gone anywhere even if they are a little slow on the bite.

Rainbows on the Sacramento River

Rain is here and the fish are biting, even though I would much rather have warm and steady weather. We caught some really nice fish today, even when it rained hard the fish ended up biting even better! We are fishing the river every day from here on in, from trout to striped bass.

Sacramento River in Redding

This morning it was a little wet and rainy but the fish hit pretty decently with cold mornings. Egg clusters and egg patterns have worked well every day. Our best days have been warm weather patterns with steady temps. The water did get a little color this morning. Rain is in the forecast all week.

Spotted bass fishing continues to improve daily. The fish are getting bigger and the limits are getting easier. Today, Ron and Dave caught their limits with a few 15 inch fish in the bag. Plastics and Live bait did the trick for these fishermen.

Sacramento River Rainbows on the Bite!

This morning the bite took off pretty good with in first 4 drifts with hammering some nice fish. The weather was really nice and the bite continued to stay pretty steady all day. The trout are hitting on eggs and flys. The water is low and clear as well. Hopefully with this rain, the water will rise as the month goes on.

Sacramento River Rainbow Trout

We had some beautiful weather over the weekend and caught some really nice fish. We have one more week to fish the upper stretch from Keswick Dam to 44 bridge, and the water is clear and low. We are drifting with roe and flies and there is a lot of trout in the 17 - 2O inch range.

Giant Rainbows on the Sacramento out of Redding

Today's trip was epic! We caught slog of big bows drifting egg patterns and flies. We are fishing for the next few days on the upper section below Keswick Dam to posse grounds. The fishing is off the hook since the weather has warmed up. I will be fishing from 44 bridge in Redding to Redbluff starting April 1st.

Big Rainbows on the Sacramento in Redding

Redding fishing is getting better every day with lots of beautiful rainbow trout to be caught. It’s a windy day today but the fish still bit off the charts. The Caldwell Park area is producing some giant fish and the pressure is very little compared to the lower stretch. Seven more days before we will be fishing the 44 Bridge and below. Fly fishing and Spin fishing are both ways to catch these big rainbows.

Shasta Lake Rainbows

With the up and down weather we have been having, we are still getting some nice fish between 18 - 22 inches trolling from I5 bridge to Packers Bay. Trolling small lures will produce numbers but if you’re into bigger trout go big. Most of our fish are coming from 15 - 25ft deep. The pit arm is been really good along with the area just past Arbuckle Flats when the pit starts to narrow. Shad pattern lures white to black and white seem to work really well.

Big Rainbows on the Bite!

It's time! Today was one of my best days on the river trout fishing this year. We couldn't keep them off are lines! Double hooks consistently drifting on the upper section of the river out of Redding. Our fish today went from 14 inches to 23 inches. The warmer weather has really turned it on!

Sacramento River in Redding Big Trout

A couple of days left and we are going to move down to 44 bridge down to Anderson. The weather has warmed up and the fishing has really turned around. Average days have been 15 - 30 hookups. Drifting crickets and roe has been the way to go. The average fish size has been from 16 - 19 inches, with some fish going to 23 inches. Easter vacation is on its way and we are ready for a great weekend!

King Salmon on Shasta Lake

This morning we picked up some nice king salmon around the Digger Bay area. We are catching them on triple teasers down to 55 feet. The rainbows we are picking up have been up in the pit arm passed Arbuckle Flats. Big bass are showing more and more every day with fish moving closer to the banks.
